MSME-Skill Development Programme provides skill training incentives to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises from the government to promote employability and productivity in small informal enterprises. Over the next three years, the key focus of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will be to create demand for formal skills training in small enterprises, bridge the gap between education and skills training, and ensure quality training with employer participation in the skilling process.

With 7.5 million enterprises employing over 120 million people, the MSME sector in India plays a significant role in the economy, accounting for a third of GDP and about 42% of exports. Measures are being taken by the government to bring the workers’ skills in sync with the requirements of these small enterprises so that the overall growth and productivity of the sector will accelerate.
